Peace That Transcends Understanding

Verse:
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.” (Colossians 3:15, KJV)
Devotional:
Living in a world full of chaos, it is difficult to find peace. We are constantly bombarded with news of violence, natural disasters, and the pandemic. It can be overwhelming and cause anxiety and fear to take over our hearts. However, as believers, we are called to a different kind of peace. A peace that transcends understanding.
Colossians 3:15 reminds us to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts. This means that we are to allow the peace that comes from having a relationship with Jesus to have the final say in our lives. The peace that Jesus offers is not the absence of trouble, but it is the presence of calmness and tranquility in the midst of it all.
As members of one body, we are called to peace. This means that we are called to live in harmony with one another, to forgive each other, and to be peacemakers. When we live in peace with others, we experience the peace of Christ in our own lives.
Lastly, we are to be thankful. Gratitude is a powerful tool in experiencing peace. When we focus on all that we have to be grateful for, we are reminded of God's goodness and faithfulness in our lives. When we shift our focus from our problems to God's provision, our hearts are filled with peace.
Today, let us allow the peace of Christ to rule in our hearts. Let us choose to live in peace with others and be thankful for all that God has done in our lives. May we experience the peace that transcends understanding.
Daily Challenge:
Take some time to write down ten things that you are thankful for. Whenever you feel anxious or overwhelmed, read through your list and allow gratitude to fill your heart with peace.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the peace that comes from having a relationship with you. Help us to allow your peace to rule in our hearts and to live in peace with others. We choose to focus on all that we have to be grateful for and trust in your provision for our lives. May we experience the peace that transcends understanding. In Jesus' precious name, we pray. Amen.
