Bible in 90 Days Plan

Job 39,40,41,42; Psalms 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9

Job 39

1Do you know when mountain goats give birth? Have you watched the deer in labor?

2Can you count the months they are pregnant so you can know the time they give birth?

3They crouch down to give birth to their young; they deliver their newborn.

4Their offspring are healthy and grow up in the open field. They leave and do not return.

5Who set the wild donkey free? Who released the swift donkey from its harness?

6I made the desert its home, and the salty wasteland its dwelling.

7It scoffs at the noise of the village and never hears the shouts of a driver.

8It roams the mountains for its pastureland, searching for anything green.

9Would the wild ox be willing to serve you? Would it spend the night by your feeding trough?

10Can you hold the wild ox to a furrow by its harness? Will it plow the valleys behind you?

11Can you depend on it because its strength is great? Would you leave it to do your hard work?

12Can you trust the wild ox to harvest your grain and bring it to your threshing floor?

13The wings of the ostrich flap joyfully, but are her feathers and plumage like the stork’s?

14She abandons her eggs on the ground and lets them be warmed in the sand.

15She forgets that a foot may crush them or that some wild animal may trample them.

16She treats her young harshly, as if they were not her own, with no fear that her labor may have been in vain.

17For God has deprived her of wisdom; he has not endowed her with understanding.

18When she proudly spreads her wings, she laughs at the horse and its rider.

19Do you give strength to the horse? Do you adorn his neck with a mane?

20Do you make him leap like a locust? His proud snorting fills one with terror.

21He paws in the valley and rejoices in his strength; he charges into battle.

22He laughs at fear, since he is afraid of nothing; he does not run from the sword.

23A quiver rattles at his side, along with a flashing spear and a javelin.

24He charges ahead with trembling rage; he cannot stand still at the trumpet’s sound.

25When the trumpet blasts, he snorts defiantly. He smells the battle from a distance; he hears the officers’ shouts and the battle cry.

26Does the hawk take flight by your understanding and spread its wings to the south?

27Does the eagle soar at your command and make its nest on high?

28It lives on a cliff where it spends the night; its stronghold is on a rocky crag.

29From there it searches for prey; its eyes penetrate the distance.

30Its brood gulps down blood, and where the slain are, it is there.

Job 40

1The LORD answered Job:

2Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who argues with God give an answer.

3Then Job answered the LORD:

4I am so insignificant. How can I answer you? I place my hand over my mouth.

5I have spoken once, and I will not reply; twice, but now I can add nothing.

6Then the LORD answered Job from the whirlwind:

7Get ready to answer me like a man; When I question you, you will inform me.

8Would you really challenge my justice? Would you declare me guilty to justify yourself?

9Do you have an arm like God’s? Can you thunder with a voice like his?

10Adorn yourself with majesty and splendor, and clothe yourself with honor and glory.

11Pour out your raging anger; look on every proud person and humiliate him.

12Look on every proud person and humble him; trample the wicked where they stand.

13Hide them together in the dust; imprison them in the grave.

14Then I will confess to you that your own right hand can deliver you.

15Look at Behemoth, which I made along with you. He eats grass like cattle.

16Look at the strength of his back and the power in the muscles of his belly.

17He stiffens his tail like a cedar tree; the tendons of his thighs are woven firmly together.

18His bones are bronze tubes; his limbs are like iron rods.

19He is the foremost of God’s works; only his Maker can draw the sword against him.

20The hills yield food for him, while all sorts of wild animals play there.

21He lies under the lotus plants, hiding in the protection of marshy reeds.

22Lotus plants cover him with their shade; the willows by the brook surround him.

23Though the river rages, Behemoth is unafraid; he remains confident, even if the Jordan surges up to his mouth.

24Can anyone capture him while he looks on, or pierce his nose with snares?

Job 41

1Can you pull in Leviathan with a hook or tie his tongue down with a rope?

2Can you put a cord through his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook?

3Will he beg you for mercy or speak softly to you?

4Will he make a covenant with you so that you can take him as a slave forever?

5Can you play with him like a bird or put him on a leash for your girls?

6Will traders bargain for him or divide him among the merchants?

7Can you fill his hide with harpoons or his head with fishing spears?

8Lay a hand on him. You will remember the battle and never repeat it!

9Any hope of capturing him proves false. Does a person not collapse at the very sight of him?

10No one is ferocious enough to rouse Leviathan; who then can stand against me?

11Who confronted me, that I should repay him? Everything under heaven belongs to me.

12I cannot be silent about his limbs, his power, and his graceful proportions.

13Who can strip off his outer covering? Who can penetrate his double layer of armor?

14Who can open his jaws, surrounded by those terrifying teeth?

15His pride is in his rows of scales, closely sealed together.

16One scale is so close to another that no air can pass between them.

17They are joined to one another, so closely connected they cannot be separated.

18His snorting flashes with light, while his eyes are like the rays of dawn.

19Flaming torches shoot from his mouth; fiery sparks fly out!

20Smoke billows from his nostrils as from a boiling pot or burning reeds.

21His breath sets coals ablaze, and flames pour out of his mouth.

22Strength resides in his neck, and dismay dances before him.

23The folds of his flesh are joined together, solid as metal and immovable.

24His heart is as hard as a rock, as hard as a lower millstone!

25When Leviathan rises, the mighty are terrified; they withdraw because of his thrashing.

26The sword that reaches him will have no effect, nor will a spear, dart, or arrow.

27He regards iron as straw, and bronze as rotten wood.

28No arrow can make him flee; slingstones become like stubble to him.

29A club is regarded as stubble, and he laughs at the sound of a javelin.

30His undersides are jagged potsherds, spreading the mud like a threshing sledge.

31He makes the depths seethe like a cauldron; he makes the sea like an ointment jar.

32He leaves a shining wake behind him; one would think the deep had gray hair!

33He has no equal on earth — a creature devoid of fear!

34He surveys everything that is haughty; he is king over all the proud beasts.

Job 42

1Then Job replied to the LORD:

2I know that you can do anything and no plan of yours can be thwarted.

3You asked, “Who is this who conceals my counsel with ignorance?” Surely I spoke about things I did not understand, things too wondrous for me to know.

4You said, “Listen now, and I will speak. When I question you, you will inform me.”

5I had heard reports about you, but now my eyes have seen you.

6Therefore, I reject my words and am sorry for them; I am dust and ashes.

7After the LORD had finished speaking to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “I am angry with you and your two friends, for you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.

8Now take seven bulls and seven rams, go to my servant Job, and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. Then my servant Job will pray for you. I will surely accept his prayer and not deal with you as your folly deserves. For you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.”

9Then Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the LORD had told them, and the LORD accepted Job’s prayer.

10After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his fortunes and doubled his previous possessions.

11All his brothers, sisters, and former acquaintances came to him and dined with him in his house. They sympathized with him and comforted him concerning all the adversity the LORD had brought on him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold earring.

12So the LORD blessed the last part of Job’s life more than the first. He owned fourteen thousand sheep and goats, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.

13He also had seven sons and three daughters.

14He named his first daughter Jemimah, his second Keziah, and his third Keren-happuch.

15No women as beautiful as Job’s daughters could be found in all the land, and their father granted them an inheritance with their brothers.

16Job lived 140 years after this and saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.

17Then Job died, old and full of days.

Psalms 1

1How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers!

2Instead, his delight is in the LORD’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.

3He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

4The wicked are not like this; instead, they are like chaff that the wind blows away.

5Therefore the wicked will not stand up in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

6For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to ruin.

Psalms 2

1Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?

2The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers conspire together against the LORD and his Anointed One:

3“Let’s tear off their chains and throw their ropes off of us.”

4The one enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord ridicules them.

5Then he speaks to them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath:

6“I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”

7I will declare the LORD’s decree. He said to me, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father.

8Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance and the ends of the earth your possession.

9You will break them with an iron scepter; you will shatter them like pottery.”

10So now, kings, be wise; receive instruction, you judges of the earth.

11Serve the LORD with reverential awe and rejoice with trembling.

12Pay homage to the Son or he will be angry and you will perish in your rebellion, for his anger may ignite at any moment. All who take refuge in him are happy.

Psalms 3

1A psalm of David when he fled from his son Absalom. [1] LORD, how my foes increase! There are many who attack me.

2Many say about me, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah

3But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.

4I cry aloud to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain. Selah

5I lie down and sleep; I wake again because the LORD sustains me.

6I will not be afraid of thousands of people who have taken their stand against me on every side.

7Rise up, LORD! Save me, my God! You strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked.

8Salvation belongs to the LORD; may your blessing be on your people. Selah

Psalms 4

1For the choir director: with stringed instruments. A psalm of David. [1] Answer me when I call, God, who vindicates me. You freed me from affliction; be gracious to me and hear my prayer.

2How long, exalted ones, will my honor be insulted? How long will you love what is worthless and pursue a lie? Selah

3Know that the LORD has set apart the faithful for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him.

4Be angry and do not sin; on your bed, reflect in your heart and be still. Selah

5Offer sacrifices in righteousness and trust in the LORD.

6Many are asking, “Who can show us anything good?” Let the light of your face shine on us, LORD.

7You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and new wine abound.

8I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, LORD, make me live in safety.

Psalms 5

1For the choir director: with the flutes. A psalm of David. [1] Listen to my words, LORD; consider my sighing.

2Pay attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for I pray to you.

3In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I plead my case to you and watch expectantly.

4For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil cannot dwell with you.

5The boastful cannot stand in your sight; you hate all evildoers.

6You destroy those who tell lies; the LORD abhors violent and treacherous people.

7But I enter your house by the abundance of your faithful love; I bow down toward your holy temple in reverential awe of you.

8LORD, lead me in your righteousness because of my adversaries; make your way straight before me.

9For there is nothing reliable in what they say; destruction is within them; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongues.

10Punish them, God; let them fall by their own schemes. Drive them out because of their many crimes, for they rebel against you.

11But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them shout for joy forever. May you shelter them, and may those who love your name boast about you.

12For you, LORD, bless the righteous one; you surround him with favor like a shield.

Psalms 6

1For the choir director: with stringed instruments, according to . A psalm of David. [1] LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger; do not discipline me in your wrath.

2Be gracious to me, LORD, for I am weak; heal me, LORD, for my bones are shaking;

3my whole being is shaken with terror. And you, LORD  — how long?

4Turn, LORD! Rescue me; save me because of your faithful love.

5For there is no remembrance of you in death; who can thank you in Sheol?

6I am weary from my groaning; with my tears I dampen my bed and drench my couch every night.

7My eyes are swollen from grief; they grow old because of all my enemies.

8Depart from me, all evildoers, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping.

9The LORD has heard my plea for help; the LORD accepts my prayer.

10All my enemies will be ashamed and shake with terror; they will turn back and suddenly be disgraced.

Psalms 7

1A of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning the words of Cush, a Benjaminite. [1] LORD my God, I seek refuge in you; save me from all my pursuers and rescue me

2or they will tear me like a lion, ripping me apart with no one to rescue me.

3LORD my God, if I have done this, if there is injustice on my hands,

4if I have done harm to one at peace with me or have plundered my adversary without cause,

5may an enemy pursue and overtake me; may he trample me to the ground and leave my honor in the dust. Selah

6Rise up, LORD, in your anger; lift yourself up against the fury of my adversaries; awake for me; you have ordained a judgment.

7Let the assembly of peoples gather around you; take your seat on high over it.

8The LORD judges the peoples; vindicate me, LORD, according to my righteousness and my integrity.

9Let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous. The one who examines the thoughts and emotions is a righteous God.

10My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart.

11God is a righteous judge and a God who shows his wrath every day.

12If anyone does not repent, he will sharpen his sword; he has strung his bow and made it ready.

13He has prepared his deadly weapons; he tips his arrows with fire.

14See, the wicked one is pregnant with evil, conceives trouble, and gives birth to deceit.

15He dug a pit and hollowed it out but fell into the hole he had made.

16His trouble comes back on his own head; his own violence comes down on top of his head.

17I will thank the LORD for his righteousness; I will sing about the name of the LORD Most High.

Psalms 8

1For the choir director: on the . A psalm of David. [1] LORD, our Lord, how magnificent is your name throughout the earth! You have covered the heavens with your majesty.

2From the mouths of infants and nursing babies, you have established a stronghold on account of your adversaries in order to silence the enemy and the avenger.

3When I observe your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you set in place,

4what is a human being that you remember him, a son of man that you look after him?

5You made him little less than God and crowned him with glory and honor.

6You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:

7all the sheep and oxen, as well as the animals in the wild,

8the birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea that pass through the currents of the seas.

9LORD, our Lord, how magnificent is your name throughout the earth!

Psalms 9

1For the choir director: according to . A psalm of David. [1] I will thank the LORD with all my heart; I will declare all your wondrous works.

2I will rejoice and boast about you; I will sing about your name, Most High.

3When my enemies retreat, they stumble and perish before you.

4For you have upheld my just cause; you are seated on your throne as a righteous judge.

5You have rebuked the nations: You have destroyed the wicked; you have erased their name forever and ever.

6The enemy has come to eternal ruin. You have uprooted the cities, and the very memory of them has perished.

7But the LORD sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for judgment.

8And he judges the world with righteousness; he executes judgment on the nations with fairness.

9The LORD is a refuge for the persecuted, a refuge in times of trouble.

10Those who know your name trust in you because you have not abandoned those who seek you, LORD.

11Sing to the LORD, who dwells in Zion; proclaim his deeds among the nations.

12For the one who seeks an accounting for bloodshed remembers them; he does not forget the cry of the oppressed.

13Be gracious to me, LORD; consider my affliction at the hands of those who hate me. Lift me up from the gates of death,

14so that I may declare all your praises. I will rejoice in your salvation within the gates of Daughter Zion.

15The nations have fallen into the pit they made; their foot is caught in the net they have concealed.

16The LORD has made himself known; he has executed justice, snaring the wicked by the work of their hands. Higgaion. Selah

17The wicked will return to Sheol  — all the nations that forget God.

18For the needy will not always be forgotten; the hope of the oppressed will not perish forever.

19Rise up, LORD! Do not let mere humans prevail; let the nations be judged in your presence.

20Put terror in them, LORD; let the nations know they are only humans. Selah
