¹O LORD, God of my salvation, I cry out day and night before you.

²Let my prayer come before you; incline your ear to my cry!

³For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near to Sheol.

⁴I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am a man who has no strength,

⁵like one set loose among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, like those whom you remember no more, for they are cut off from your hand.

⁶You have put me in the depths of the pit, in the regions dark and deep.

⁷Your wrath lies heavy upon me, and you overwhelm me with all your waves. Selah

⁸You have caused my companions to shun me; you have made me a horror to them. I am shut in so that I cannot escape;

⁹my eye grows dim through sorrow. Every day I call upon you, O LORD; I spread out my hands to you.

¹⁰Do you work wonders for the dead? Do the departed rise up to praise you? Selah

¹¹Is your steadfast love declared in the grave, or your faithfulness in Abaddon?

¹²Are your wonders known in the darkness, or your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

¹³But I, O LORD, cry to you; in the morning my prayer comes before you.

¹⁴O LORD, why do you cast my soul away? Why do you hide your face from me?

¹⁵Afflicted and close to death from my youth up, I suffer your terrors; I am helpless.

¹⁶Your wrath has swept over me; your dreadful assaults destroy me.

¹⁷They surround me like a flood all day long; they close in on me together.

¹⁸You have caused my beloved and my friend to shun me; my companions have become darkness.

¹I will sing of the steadfast love of the LORD, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.

²For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever; in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.”

³You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant:

⁴‘I will establish your offspring forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” Selah

⁵Let the heavens praise your wonders, O LORD, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones!

⁶For who in the skies can be compared to the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD,

⁷a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all who are around him?

⁸O LORD God of hosts, who is mighty as you are, O LORD, with your faithfulness all around you?

⁹You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them.

¹⁰You crushed Rahab like a carcass; you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.

¹¹The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours; the world and all that is in it, you have founded them.

¹²The north and the south, you have created them; Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name.

¹³You have a mighty arm; strong is your hand, high your right hand.

¹⁴Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.

¹⁵Blessed are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O LORD, in the light of your face,

¹⁶who exult in your name all the day and in your righteousness are exalted.

¹⁷For you are the glory of their strength; by your favor our horn is exalted.

¹⁸For our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁹Of old you spoke in a vision to your godly one, and said: “I have granted help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.

²⁰I have found David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him,

²¹so that my hand shall be established with him; my arm also shall strengthen him.

²²The enemy shall not outwit him; the wicked shall not humble him.

²³I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him.

²⁴My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted.

²⁵I will set his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers.

²⁶He shall cry to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’

²⁷And I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.

²⁸My steadfast love I will keep for him forever, and my covenant will stand firm for him.

²⁹I will establish his offspring forever and his throne as the days of the heavens.

³⁰If his children forsake my law and do not walk according to my rules,

³¹if they violate my statutes and do not keep my commandments,

³²then I will punish their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes,

³³but I will not remove from him my steadfast love or be false to my faithfulness.

³⁴I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips.

³⁵Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David.

³⁶His offspring shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun before me.

³⁷Like the moon it shall be established forever, a faithful witness in the skies.” Selah

³⁸But now you have cast off and rejected; you are full of wrath against your anointed.

³⁹You have renounced the covenant with your servant; you have defiled his crown in the dust.

⁴⁰You have breached all his walls; you have laid his strongholds in ruins.

⁴¹All who pass by plunder him; he has become the scorn of his neighbors.

⁴²You have exalted the right hand of his foes; you have made all his enemies rejoice.

⁴³You have also turned back the edge of his sword, and you have not made him stand in battle.

⁴⁴You have made his splendor to cease and cast his throne to the ground.

⁴⁵You have cut short the days of his youth; you have covered him with shame. Selah

⁴⁶How long, O LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire?

⁴⁷Remember how short my time is! For what vanity you have created all the children of man!

⁴⁸What man can live and never see death? Who can deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah

⁴⁹Lord, where is your steadfast love of old, which by your faithfulness you swore to David?

⁵⁰Remember, O Lord, how your servants are mocked, and how I bear in my heart the insults of all the many nations,

⁵¹with which your enemies mock, O LORD, with which they mock the footsteps of your anointed.

⁵²Blessed be the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.

¹Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.

²Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

³You return man to dust and say, “Return, O children of man!”

⁴For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.

⁵You sweep them away as with a flood; they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning:

⁶in the morning it flourishes and is renewed; in the evening it fades and withers.

⁷For we are brought to an end by your anger; by your wrath we are dismayed.

⁸You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.

⁹For all our days pass away under your wrath; we bring our years to an end like a sigh.

¹⁰The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.

¹¹Who considers the power of your anger, and your wrath according to the fear of you?

¹²So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.

¹³Return, O LORD! How long? Have pity on your servants!

¹⁴Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

¹⁵Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen evil.

¹⁶Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children.

¹⁷Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!

¹He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

²I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

³For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

⁴He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

⁵You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day,

⁶nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

⁷A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

⁸You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.

⁹Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place — the Most High, who is my refuge —

¹⁰no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent.

¹¹For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.

¹²On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.

¹³You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

¹⁴“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name.

¹⁵When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.

¹⁶With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

¹It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, O Most High;

²to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night,

³to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre.

⁴For you, O LORD, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy.

⁵How great are your works, O LORD! Your thoughts are very deep!

⁶The stupid man cannot know; the fool cannot understand this:

⁷that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever;

⁸but you, O LORD, are on high forever.

⁹For behold, your enemies, O LORD, for behold, your enemies shall perish; all evildoers shall be scattered.

¹⁰But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; you have poured over me fresh oil.

¹¹My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.

¹²The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

¹³They are planted in the house of the LORD; they flourish in the courts of our God.

¹⁴They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green,

¹⁵to declare that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

¹The LORD reigns; he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed; he has put on strength as his belt. Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.

²Your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting.

³The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring.

⁴Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty!

⁵Your decrees are very trustworthy; holiness befits your house, O LORD, forevermore.

¹O LORD, God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, shine forth!

²Rise up, O judge of the earth; repay to the proud what they deserve!

³O LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked exult?

⁴They pour out their arrogant words; all the evildoers boast.

⁵They crush your people, O LORD, and afflict your heritage.

⁶They kill the widow and the sojourner, and murder the fatherless;

⁷and they say, “The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob does not perceive.”

⁸Understand, O dullest of the people! Fools, when will you be wise?

⁹He who planted the ear, does he not hear? He who formed the eye, does he not see?

¹⁰He who disciplines the nations, does he not rebuke? He who teaches man knowledge —

¹¹the LORD — knows the thoughts of man, that they are but a breath.

¹²Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O LORD, and whom you teach out of your law,

¹³to give him rest from days of trouble, until a pit is dug for the wicked.

¹⁴For the LORD will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage;

¹⁵for justice will return to the righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

¹⁶Who rises up for me against the wicked? Who stands up for me against evildoers?

¹⁷If the LORD had not been my help, my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence.

¹⁸When I thought, “My foot slips,” your steadfast love, O LORD, held me up.

¹⁹When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.

²⁰Can wicked rulers be allied with you, those who frame injustice by statute?

²¹They band together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.

²²But the LORD has become my stronghold, and my God the rock of my refuge.

²³He will bring back on them their iniquity and wipe them out for their wickedness; the LORD our God will wipe them out.

¹Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!

²Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

³For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

⁴In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also.

⁵The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

⁶Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!

⁷For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today, if you hear his voice,

⁸do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,

⁹when your fathers put me to the test and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.

¹⁰For forty years I loathed that generation and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways.”

¹¹Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They shall not enter my rest.”

¹Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth!

²Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.

³Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!

⁴For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.

⁵For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens.

⁶Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

⁷Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength!

⁸Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts!

⁹Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth!

¹⁰Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns! Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity.”

¹¹Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it;

¹²let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy

¹³before the LORD, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness, and the peoples in his faithfulness.

¹The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad!

²Clouds and thick darkness are all around him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

³Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaries all around.

⁴His lightnings light up the world; the earth sees and trembles.

⁵The mountains melt like wax before the LORD, before the Lord of all the earth.

⁶The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory.

⁷All worshipers of images are put to shame, who make their boast in worthless idols; worship him, all you gods!

⁸Zion hears and is glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoice, because of your judgments, O LORD.

⁹For you, O LORD, are most high over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.

¹⁰O you who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the lives of his saints; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

¹¹Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.

¹²Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name!

¹Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.

²The LORD has made known his salvation; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

³He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

⁴Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!

⁵Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody!

⁶With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD!

⁷Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who dwell in it!

⁸Let the rivers clap their hands; let the hills sing for joy together

⁹before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

¹The LORD reigns; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!

²The LORD is great in Zion; he is exalted over all the peoples.

³Let them praise your great and awesome name! Holy is he!

⁴The King in his might loves justice. You have established equity; you have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.

⁵Exalt the LORD our God; worship at his footstool! Holy is he!

⁶Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel also was among those who called upon his name. They called to the LORD, and he answered them.

⁷In the pillar of the cloud he spoke to them; they kept his testimonies and the statute that he gave them.

⁸O LORD our God, you answered them; you were a forgiving God to them, but an avenger of their wrongdoings.

⁹Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy mountain; for the LORD our God is holy!

¹Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!

²Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!

³Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

⁴Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!

⁵For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
