¹I will sing of mercy and justice; To You, LORD, I will sing praises.

²I will carefully attend to the blameless way. When will You come to me? I will walk within my house in the integrity of my heart.

³I will set no worthless thing before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me.

⁴A perverse heart shall leave me; I will know no evil.

⁵Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, him I will destroy; I will not endure one who has a haughty look and an arrogant heart.

⁶My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me; One who walks in a blameless way is one who will serve me.

⁷One who practices deceit shall not dwell within my house; One who speaks lies shall not maintain his position before me.

⁸Every morning I will destroy all the wicked of the land, So as to eliminate from the city of the LORD all those who do injustice.

¹Hear my prayer, LORD! And let my cry for help come to You.

²Do not hide Your face from me on the day of my distress; Incline Your ear to me; On the day when I call answer me quickly.

³For my days have ended in smoke, And my bones have been scorched like a hearth.

⁴My heart has been struck like grass and has withered, Indeed, I forget to eat my bread.

⁵Because of the loudness of my groaning My bones cling to my flesh.

⁶I resemble a pelican of the wilderness; I have become like an owl of the ruins.

⁷I lie awake, I have become like a solitary bird on a housetop.

⁸My enemies have taunted me all day long; Those who deride me have used my name as a curse.

⁹For I have eaten ashes like bread, And mixed my drink with weeping

¹⁰Because of Your indignation and Your wrath; For You have lifted me up and thrown me away.

¹¹My days are like a lengthened shadow, And I wither away like grass.

¹²But You, LORD, remain forever, And Your name remains to all generations.

¹³You will arise and have compassion on Zion; For it is time to be gracious to her, For the appointed time has come.

¹⁴Surely Your servants take pleasure in her stones, And feel pity for her dust.

¹⁵So the nations will fear the name of the LORD, And all the kings of the earth, Your glory.

¹⁶For the LORD has built up Zion; He has appeared in His glory.

¹⁷He has turned His attention to the prayer of the destitute And has not despised their prayer.

¹⁸This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD:

¹⁹For He looked down from His holy height; From heaven the LORD looked upon the earth,

²⁰To hear the groaning of the prisoner, To set free those who were doomed to death,

²¹So that people may tell of the name of the LORD in Zion, And His praise in Jerusalem,

²²When the peoples are gathered together, And the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.

²³He has broken my strength in the way; He has shortened my days.

²⁴I say, “My God, do not take me away in the middle of my days, Your years are throughout all generations.

²⁵In time of old You founded the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.

²⁶Even they will perish, but You endure; All of them will wear out like a garment; Like clothing You will change them and they will pass away.

²⁷But You are the same, And Your years will not come to an end.

²⁸The children of Your servants will continue, And their descendants will be established before You.”

¹Bless the LORD, my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name.

²Bless the LORD, my soul, And do not forget any of His benefits;

³Who pardons all your guilt, Who heals all your diseases;

⁴Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with favor and compassion;

⁵Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

⁶The LORD performs righteous deeds And judgments for all who are oppressed.

⁷He made known His ways to Moses, His deeds to the sons of Israel.

⁸The LORD is compassionate and gracious, Slow to anger and abounding in mercy.

⁹He will not always contend with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever.

¹⁰He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor rewarded us according to our guilty deeds.

¹¹For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him.

¹²As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our wrongdoings from us.

¹³Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.

¹⁴For He Himself knows our form; He is mindful that we are nothing but dust.

¹⁵As for man, his days are like grass; Like a flower of the field, so he flourishes.

¹⁶When the wind has passed over it, it is no more, And its place no longer knows about it.

¹⁷But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting for those who fear Him, And His justice to the children’s children,

¹⁸To those who keep His covenant And remember His precepts, so as to do them.

¹⁹The LORD has established His throne in the heavens, And His sovereignty rules over all.

²⁰Bless the LORD, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word!

²¹Bless the LORD, all you His angels, You who serve Him, doing His will.

²²Bless the LORD, all you works of His, In all places of His dominion; Bless the LORD, my soul!

¹Bless the LORD, my soul! LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty,

²Covering Yourself with light as with a cloak, Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain.

³He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters; He makes the clouds His chariot; He walks on the wings of the wind;

⁴He makes the winds His messengers, Flaming fire His ministers.

⁵He established the earth upon its foundations, So that it will not totter forever and ever.

⁶You covered it with the deep sea as with a garment; The waters were standing above the mountains.

⁷They fled from Your rebuke, At the sound of Your thunder they hurried away.

⁸The mountains rose; the valleys sank down To the place which You established for them.

⁹You set a boundary so that they will not pass over, So that they will not return to cover the earth.

¹⁰He sends forth springs in the valleys; They flow between the mountains;

¹¹They give drink to every animal of the field; The wild donkeys quench their thirst.

¹²The birds of the sky dwell beside them; They lift up their voices from among the branches.

¹³He waters the mountains from His upper chambers; The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works.

¹⁴He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, And vegetation for the labor of mankind, So that they may produce food from the earth,

¹⁵And wine, which makes a human heart cheerful, So that he makes his face gleam with oil, And food, which sustains a human heart.

¹⁶The trees of the LORD drink their fill, The cedars of Lebanon which He planted,

¹⁷Where the birds build their nests, And the stork, whose home is the juniper trees.

¹⁸The high mountains are for the wild goats; The cliffs are a refuge for the rock hyrax.

¹⁹He made the moon for the seasons; The sun knows the place of its setting.

²⁰You appoint darkness and it becomes night, In which all the animals of the forest prowl about.

²¹The young lions roar for their prey And seek their food from God.

²²When the sun rises they withdraw, And they lie down in their dens.

²³A person goes out to his work And to his labor until evening.

²⁴LORD, how many are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all; The earth is full of Your possessions.

²⁵There is the sea, great and broad, In which are swarms without number, Animals both small and great.

²⁶The ships move along there, And Leviathan, which You have formed to have fun in it.

²⁷They all wait for You To give them their food in due season.

²⁸You give to them, they gather it up; You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good.

²⁹You hide Your face, they are terrified; You take away their breath, they perish And return to their dust.

³⁰You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the ground.

³¹May the glory of the LORD endure forever; May the LORD rejoice in His works;

³²He looks at the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they smoke.

³³I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

³⁴May my praise be pleasing to Him; As for me, I shall rejoice in the LORD.

³⁵May sinners be removed from the earth And may the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, my soul. Praise the LORD!

¹Give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; Make His deeds known among the peoples.

²Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Tell of all His wonders.

³Boast in His holy name; May the heart of those who seek the LORD be joyful.

⁴Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually.

⁵Remember His wonders which He has done, His marvels and the judgments spoken by His mouth,

⁶You descendants of Abraham, His servant, You sons of Jacob, His chosen ones!

⁷He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth.

⁸He has remembered His covenant forever, The word which He commanded to a thousand generations,

⁹The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac.

¹⁰Then He confirmed it to Jacob as a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant,

¹¹Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan As the portion of your inheritance,”

¹²When they were only a few people in number, Very few, and strangers in it.

¹³And they wandered from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people,

¹⁴He allowed no one to oppress them, And He rebuked kings for their sakes, saying,

¹⁵“Do not touch My anointed ones, And do not harm My prophets.”

¹⁶And He called for a famine upon the land; He broke the whole staff of bread.

¹⁷He sent a man before them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave.

¹⁸They forced his feet into shackles, He was put in irons;

¹⁹Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the LORD refined him.

²⁰The king sent and released him, The ruler of peoples, and set him free.

²¹He made him lord of his house, And ruler over all his possessions,

²²To imprison his high officials at will, That he might teach his elders wisdom.

²³Israel also came into Egypt; So Jacob lived in the land of Ham.

²⁴And He made His people very fruitful, And made them stronger than their enemies.

²⁵He turned their heart to hate His people, To deal cunningly with His servants.

²⁶He sent His servant Moses, And Aaron, whom He had chosen.

²⁷They performed His wondrous acts among them, And miracles in the land of Ham.

²⁸He sent darkness and made it dark; And they did not rebel against His words.

²⁹He turned their waters into blood, And caused their fish to die.

³⁰Their land swarmed with frogs Even in the chambers of their kings.

³¹He spoke, and a swarm of flies And gnats invaded all their territory.

³²He gave them hail for rain, And flaming fire in their land.

³³He also struck their vines and their fig trees, And smashed the trees of their territory.

³⁴He spoke, and locusts came, And creeping locusts, beyond number,

³⁵And they ate all the vegetation in their land, And ate the fruit of their ground.

³⁶He also fatally struck all the firstborn in their land, The first fruits of all their vigor.

³⁷Then He brought the Israelites out with silver and gold, And among His tribes there was not one who stumbled.

³⁸Egypt was glad when they departed, For the dread of them had fallen upon the Egyptians.

³⁹He spread out a cloud as a covering, And fire to illumine by night.

⁴⁰They asked, and He brought quail, And satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

⁴¹He opened the rock and water flowed out; It ran in the dry places like a river.

⁴²For He remembered His holy word With His servant Abraham;

⁴³And He led out His people with joy, His chosen ones with a joyful shout.

⁴⁴He also gave them the lands of the nations, So that they might take possession of the fruit of the peoples’ labor,

⁴⁵And that they might keep His statutes And comply with His laws; Praise the LORD!

¹Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His mercy is everlasting.

²Who can speak of the mighty deeds of the LORD, Or can proclaim all His praise?

³How blessed are those who maintain justice, Who practice righteousness at all times!

⁴Remember me, LORD, in Your favor toward Your people. Visit me with Your salvation,

⁵So that I may see the prosperity of Your chosen ones, That I may rejoice in the joy of Your nation, That I may boast with Your inheritance.

⁶We have sinned like our fathers, We have gone astray, we have behaved wickedly.

⁷Our fathers in Egypt did not understand Your wonders; They did not remember Your abundant kindnesses, But rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea.

⁸Nevertheless He saved them for the sake of His name, So that He might make His power known.

⁹So He rebuked the Red Sea and it dried up, And He led them through the mighty waters, as through the wilderness.

¹⁰So He saved them from the hand of one who hated them, And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

¹¹The waters covered their adversaries; Not one of them was left.

¹²Then they believed His words; They sang His praise.

¹³They quickly forgot His works; They did not wait for His plan,

¹⁴But became lustfully greedy in the wilderness, And put God to the test in the desert.

¹⁵So He gave them their request, But sent a wasting disease among them.

¹⁶When they became envious of Moses in the camp, And of Aaron, the holy one of the LORD,

¹⁷The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, And engulfed the company of Abiram.

¹⁸And a fire blazed up in their company; The flame consumed the wicked.

¹⁹They made a calf in Horeb, And worshiped a cast metal image.

²⁰So they exchanged their glory For the image of an ox that eats grass.

²¹They forgot God their Savior, Who had done great things in Egypt,

²²Wonders in the land of Ham, And awesome things by the Red Sea.

²³Therefore He said that He would destroy them, If Moses, His chosen one, had not stood in the gap before Him, To turn away His wrath from destroying them.

²⁴Then they rejected the pleasant land; They did not believe His word,

²⁵But grumbled in their tents; They did not listen to the voice of the LORD.

²⁶Therefore He swore to them That He would have them fall in the wilderness,

²⁷And that He would bring down their descendants among the nations, And scatter them in the lands.

²⁸They also followed Baal-peor, And ate sacrifices offered to the dead.

²⁹So they provoked Him to anger with their deeds, And a plague broke out among them.

³⁰Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, And so the plague was brought to a halt.

³¹And it was credited to him as righteousness, To all generations forever.

³²They also provoked Him to wrath at the waters of Meribah, So that it went badly for Moses on their account.

³³Because they were rebellious against His Spirit, He spoke rashly with his lips.

³⁴They did not destroy the peoples, As the LORD had commanded them,

³⁵But they got involved with the nations And learned their practices,

³⁶And served their idols, Which became a snare to them.

³⁷They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons,

³⁸And shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and their daughters Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was defiled with the blood.

³⁹So they became unclean in their practices, And were unfaithful in their deeds.

⁴⁰Therefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against His people, And He loathed His inheritance.

⁴¹So He handed them over to the nations, And those who hated them ruled over them.

⁴²Their enemies also oppressed them, And they were subdued under their power.

⁴³Many times He would rescue them; They, however, were rebellious in their plan, And they sank down into their guilt.

⁴⁴Nevertheless He looked at their distress When He heard their cry;

⁴⁵And He remembered His covenant for their sake, And relented according to the greatness of His mercy.

⁴⁶He also made them objects of compassion In the presence of all their captors.

⁴⁷Save us, LORD our God, And gather us from the nations, To give thanks to Your holy name And glory in Your praise.

⁴⁸Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, From everlasting to everlasting. And all the people shall say, “Amen.” Praise the LORD!

¹Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, For His mercy is everlasting.

²The redeemed of the LORD shall say so, Those whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy

³And gathered from the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south.

⁴They wandered in the wilderness in a desert region; They did not find a way to an inhabited city.

⁵They were hungry and thirsty; Their souls felt weak within them.

⁶Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them from their distresses.

⁷He also had them walk on a straight way, To go to an inhabited city.

⁸They shall give thanks to the LORD for His mercy, And for His wonders to the sons of mankind!

⁹For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, And He has filled the hungry soul with what is good.

¹⁰There were those who lived in darkness and in the shadow of death, Prisoners in misery and chains,

¹¹Because they had rebelled against the words of God And rejected the plan of the Most High.

¹²Therefore He humbled their heart with labor; They stumbled and there was no one to help.

¹³Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them from their distresses.

¹⁴He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death And broke their bands apart.

¹⁵They shall give thanks to the LORD for His mercy, And for His wonders to the sons of mankind!

¹⁶For He has shattered gates of bronze And cut off bars of iron.

¹⁷Fools, because of their rebellious way, And because of their guilty deeds, were afflicted.

¹⁸Their souls loathed all kinds of food, And they came close to the gates of death.

¹⁹Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them from their distresses.

²⁰He sent His word and healed them, And saved them from their destruction.

²¹They shall give thanks to the LORD for His mercy, And for His wonders to the sons of mankind!

²²They shall also offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, And tell of His works with joyful singing.

²³Those who go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters;

²⁴They have seen the works of the LORD, And His wonders in the deep.

²⁵For He spoke and raised a stormy wind, Which lifted the waves of the sea.

²⁶They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths; Their soul melted away in their misery.

²⁷They reeled and staggered like a drunken person, And were at their wits’ end.

²⁸Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He brought them out of their distresses.

²⁹He caused the storm to be still, So that the waves of the sea were hushed.

³⁰Then they were glad because they were quiet, So He guided them to their desired harbor.

³¹They shall give thanks to the LORD for His mercy, And for His wonders to the sons of mankind!

³²They shall also exalt Him in the congregation of the people, And praise Him at the seat of the elders.

³³He turns rivers into a wilderness, And springs of water into a thirsty ground;

³⁴And a fruitful land into a salt waste, Because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

³⁵He turns a wilderness into a pool of water, And a dry land into springs of water;

³⁶And He has the hungry live there, So that they may establish an inhabited city,

³⁷And sow fields and plant vineyards, And gather a fruitful harvest.

³⁸He also blesses them and they multiply greatly, And He does not let their cattle decrease.

³⁹When they become few and lowly Because of oppression, misery, and sorrow,

⁴⁰He pours contempt upon noblemen And makes them wander in a pathless wasteland.

⁴¹But He sets the needy securely on high, away from affliction, And makes his families like a flock.

⁴²The upright see it and are glad; But all injustice shuts its mouth.

⁴³Who is wise? He is to pay attention to these things, And consider the mercy of the LORD.

¹My heart is steadfast, God; I will sing, I will sing praises also with my soul.

²Awake, harp and lyre; I will awaken the dawn!

³I will give thanks to You, LORD, among the peoples, And I will sing praises to You among the nations.

⁴For Your mercy is great above the heavens, And Your truth reaches to the skies.

⁵Be exalted above the heavens, God, And may Your glory be above all the earth.

⁶So that Your beloved may be rescued, Save with Your right hand, and answer me!

⁷God has spoken in His holiness: “I will triumph, I will divide up Shechem, And measure out the Valley of Succoth.

⁸Gilead is Mine, Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet of My head; Judah is My scepter.

⁹Moab is My washbowl; I will throw My sandal over Edom; I will shout aloud over Philistia.”

¹⁰Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?

¹¹God, have You Yourself not rejected us? And will You not go forth with our armies, God?

¹²Give us help against the enemy, For deliverance by man is worthless.

¹³Through God we will do valiantly, And it is He who will trample down our enemies.

¹God of my praise, Do not be silent!

²For they have opened a wicked and deceitful mouth against me; They have spoken against me with a lying tongue.

³They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, And have fought against me without cause.

⁴In return for my love they act as my accusers; But I am in prayer.

⁵So they have repaid me evil for good, And hatred for my love.

⁶Appoint a wicked person over him, And may an accuser stand at his right hand.

⁷When he is judged, may he come out guilty, And may his prayer become sin.

⁸May his days be few; May another take his office.

⁹May his children be fatherless, And his wife a widow.

¹⁰May his children wander about and beg; And may they seek sustenance far from their ruined homes.

¹¹May the creditor seize everything that he has, And may strangers plunder the product of his labor.

¹²May there be none to extend kindness to him, Nor any to be gracious to his fatherless children.

¹³May his descendants be eliminated; May their name be wiped out in a following generation.

¹⁴May the guilt of his fathers be remembered before the LORD, And do not let the sin of his mother be wiped out.

¹⁵May they be before the LORD continually, So that He may eliminate their memory from the earth;

¹⁶Because he did not remember to show mercy, But persecuted the afflicted and needy person, And the despondent in heart, to put them to death.

¹⁷He also loved cursing, so it came to him; And he did not delight in blessing, so it was far from him.

¹⁸But he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment, And it entered his body like water, And like oil into his bones.

¹⁹May it be to him as a garment with which he covers himself, And as a belt which he constantly wears around himself.

²⁰May this be the reward of my accusers from the LORD, And of those who speak evil against my soul.

²¹But You, GOD, the Lord, deal kindly with me for the sake of Your name; Because Your mercy is good, rescue me;

²²For I am afflicted and needy, And my heart is wounded within me.

²³I am passing like a shadow when it lengthens; I am shaken off like the locust.

²⁴My knees are weak from fasting, And my flesh has grown lean, without fatness.

²⁵I also have become a disgrace to them; When they see me, they shake their head.

²⁶Help me, LORD my God; Save me according to Your mercy.

²⁷And may they know that this is Your hand; You, LORD, have done it.

²⁸They will curse, but You bless; When they arise, they will be ashamed, But Your servant will be glad.

²⁹May my accusers be clothed with dishonor, And may they cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.

³⁰With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to the LORD; And I will praise Him in the midst of many.

³¹For He stands at the right hand of the needy, To save him from those who judge his soul.

¹The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”

²The LORD will stretch out Your strong scepter from Zion, saying, “Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”

³Your people will volunteer freely on the day of Your power; In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, Your youth are to You as the dew.

⁴The LORD has sworn and will not change His mind, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”

⁵The Lord is at Your right hand; He will shatter kings in the day of His wrath.

⁶He will judge among the nations, He will fill them with corpses, He will shatter the chief men over a broad country.

⁷He will drink from the brook by the wayside; Therefore He will lift up His head.

¹Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart, In the company of the upright and in the assembly.

²Great are the works of the LORD; They are studied by all who delight in them.

³Splendid and majestic is His work, And His righteousness endures forever.

⁴He has caused His wonders to be remembered; The LORD is gracious and compassionate.

⁵He has given food to those who fear Him; He will remember His covenant forever.

⁶He has made known to His people the power of His works, In giving them the inheritance of the nations.

⁷The works of His hands are truth and justice; All His precepts are trustworthy.

⁸They are upheld forever and ever; They are performed in truth and uprightness.

⁹He has sent redemption to His people; He has ordained His covenant forever; Holy and awesome is His name.

¹⁰The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; All those who follow His commandments have a good understanding; His praise endures forever.

¹Praise the LORD! Blessed is a person who fears the LORD, Who greatly delights in His commandments.

²His descendants will be mighty on the earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed.

³Wealth and riches are in his house, And his righteousness endures forever.

⁴Light shines in the darkness for the upright; He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous.

⁵It goes well for a person who is gracious and lends; He will maintain his cause in judgment.

⁶For he will never be shaken; The righteous will be remembered forever.

⁷He will not fear bad news; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.

⁸His heart is firm, he will not fear, But will look with satisfaction on his enemies.

⁹He has given freely to the poor, His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted in honor.

¹⁰The wicked will see it and be vexed, He will gnash his teeth and melt away; The desire of the wicked will perish.

¹Praise the LORD! Praise Him, you servants of the LORD, Praise the name of the LORD.

²Blessed be the name of the LORD From this time on and forever.

³From the rising of the sun to its setting, The name of the LORD is to be praised.

⁴The LORD is high above all nations; His glory is above the heavens.

⁵Who is like the LORD our God, Who is enthroned on high,

⁶Who looks far down to The heavens and the earth?

⁷He raises the poor from the dust, He lifts the needy from the garbage heap,

⁸To seat them with noblemen, With the noblemen of His people.

⁹He has the infertile woman live in the house As a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD!
