Psalms 141-150
Psalms 141
1LORD, I call upon You; hurry to me! Listen to my voice when I call to You!
2May my prayer be counted as incense before You; The raising of my hands as the evening offering.
3Set a guard, LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.
4Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice deeds of wickedness With people who do wrong; And may I not taste their delicacies.
5May the righteous strike me with mercy and discipline me; It is oil for the head; My head shall not refuse it, For my prayer is still against their evil deeds.
6Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock, And they hear my words, for they are pleasant.
7As when one plows and breaks open the earth, Our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol.
8For my eyes are toward You, GOD, the Lord; In You I take refuge; do not leave me defenseless.
9Keep me from the jaws of the trap which they have set for me, And from the snares of those who do wrong.
10May the wicked fall into their own nets, While I pass by safely.
Psalms 142
1I cry out with my voice to the LORD; With my voice I implore the LORD for compassion.
2I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare my trouble before Him.
3When my spirit felt weak within me, You knew my path. In the way where I walk They have hidden a trap for me.
4Look to the right and see; For there is no one who regards me favorably; There is no escape for me; No one cares for my soul.
5I cried out to You, LORD; I said, “You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.
6Give Your attention to my cry, For I have been brought very low; Rescue me from my persecutors, For they are too strong for me.
7Bring my soul out of prison, So that I may give thanks to Your name; The righteous will surround me, For You will look after me.”
Psalms 143
1Hear my prayer, LORD, Listen to my pleadings! Answer me in Your faithfulness, in Your righteousness!
2And do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For no person living is righteous in Your sight.
3For the enemy has persecuted my soul; He has crushed my life to the ground; He has made me dwell in dark places, like those who have long been dead.
4Therefore my spirit feels weak within me; My heart is appalled within me.
5I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your accomplishments; I reflect on the work of Your hands.
6I spread out my hands to You; My soul longs for You, like a weary land. Selah
7Answer me quickly, LORD, my spirit fails; Do not hide Your face from me, Or I will be the same as those who go down to the pit.
8Let me hear Your faithfulness in the morning, For I trust in You; Teach me the way in which I should walk; For to You I lift up my soul.
9Save me, LORD, from my enemies; I take refuge in You.
10Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
11For the sake of Your name, LORD, revive me. In Your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble.
12And in Your faithfulness, destroy my enemies, And eliminate all those who attack my soul, For I am Your servant.
Psalms 144
1Blessed be the LORD, my rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle;
2My faithfulness and my fortress, My stronghold and my savior, My shield and He in whom I take refuge, Who subdues my people under me.
3LORD, what is man, that You look after him? Or a son of man, that You think of him?
4Man is like the breath; His days are like a passing shadow.
5Bend down Your heavens, LORD, and come down; Touch the mountains, that they may smoke.
6Flash forth lightning and scatter them; Send out Your arrows and confuse them.
7Reach out with Your hand from on high; Rescue me and save me from great waters, From the hand of foreigners
8Whose mouths speak deceit, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
9God, I will sing a new song to You; On a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You,
10Who gives salvation to kings, Who rescues His servant David from the evil sword.
11Rescue me and save me from the hand of foreigners, Whose mouth speaks deceit And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
12When our sons in their youth are like growing plants, And our daughters like corner pillars fashioned for a palace,
13Our granaries are full, providing every kind of produce, And our flocks deliver thousands and ten thousands in our fields;
14May our cattle be bred Without mishap and without loss, May there be no outcry in our streets!
15Blessed are the people who are so situated; Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD!
Psalms 145
1I will exalt You, my God, the King, And I will bless Your name forever and ever.
2Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever.
3Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable.
4One generation will praise Your works to another, And will declare Your mighty acts.
5On the glorious splendor of Your majesty And on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.
6People will speak of the power of Your awesome acts, And I will tell of Your greatness.
7They will burst forth in speaking of Your abundant goodness, And will shout joyfully of Your righteousness.
8The LORD is gracious and compassionate; Slow to anger and great in mercy.
9The LORD is good to all, And His mercies are over all His works.
10All Your works will give thanks to You, LORD, And Your godly ones will bless You.
11They will speak of the glory of Your kingdom, And talk of Your might,
12To make known to the sons of mankind Your mighty acts, And the glory of the majesty of Your kingdom.
13Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And Your dominion endures throughout all generations. The LORD is faithful in His words, And holy in all His works.
14The LORD supports all who fall, And raises up all who are bowed down.
15The eyes of all look to You, And You give them their food in due time.
16You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing.
17The LORD is righteous in all His ways, And kind in all His works.
18The LORD is near to all who call on Him, To all who call on Him in truth.
19He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry for help and save them.
20The LORD watches over all who love Him, But He will destroy all the wicked.
21My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD, And all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever.
Psalms 146
1Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, my soul!
2I will praise the LORD while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
3Do not trust in noblemen, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation.
4His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; On that very day his plans perish.
5Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the LORD his God,
6Who made heaven and earth, The sea and everything that is in them; Who keeps faith forever;
7Who executes justice for the oppressed; Who gives food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners.
8The LORD opens the eyes of those who are blind; The LORD raises up those who are bowed down; The LORD loves the righteous.
9The LORD watches over strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, But He thwarts the way of the wicked.
10The LORD will reign forever, Your God, Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD!
Psalms 147
1Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant and praise is beautiful.
2The LORD builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the outcasts of Israel.
3He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.
4He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them.
5Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.
6The LORD supports the afflicted; He brings the wicked down to the ground.
7Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; Sing praises to our God on the lyre;
8It is He who covers the heavens with clouds, Who provides rain for the earth, Who makes grass sprout on the mountains.
9It is He who gives an animal its food, And feeds young ravens that cry.
10He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man.
11The LORD favors those who fear Him, Those who wait for His faithfulness.
12Praise the LORD, Jerusalem! Praise your God, Zion!
13For He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your sons among you.
14He makes peace in your borders; He satisfies you with the finest of the wheat.
15He sends His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly.
16He showers snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes.
17He hurls His ice as fragments; Who can stand before His cold?
18He sends His word and makes them melt; He makes His wind blow, and the waters flow.
19He declares His words to Jacob, His statutes and His judgments to Israel.
20He has not dealt this way with any other nation; And as for His judgments, they have not known them. Praise the LORD!
Psalms 148
1Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; Praise Him in the heights!
2Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His heavenly armies!
3Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all stars of light!
4Praise Him, highest heavens, And the waters that are above the heavens!
5They are to praise the name of the LORD, For He commanded and they were created.
6He has also established them forever and ever; He has made a decree, and it will not pass away.
7Praise the LORD from the earth, Sea monsters, and all the ocean depths;
8Fire and hail, snow and clouds; Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
9Mountains and all hills; Fruit trees and all cedars;
10Animals and all cattle; Crawling things and winged fowl;
11Kings of the earth and all peoples; Rulers and all judges of the earth;
12Both young men and virgins; Old men and children.
13They are to praise the name of the LORD, For His name alone is exalted; His majesty is above earth and heaven.
14And He has lifted up a horn for His people, Praise for all His godly ones, For the sons of Israel, a people near to Him. Praise the LORD!
Psalms 149
1Praise the LORD! Sing a new song to the LORD, And His praise in the congregation of the godly ones.
2Israel shall be joyful in his Maker; The sons of Zion shall rejoice in their King.
3They shall praise His name with dancing; They shall sing praises to Him with tambourine and lyre.
4For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will glorify the lowly with salvation.
5The godly ones shall be jubilant in glory; They shall sing for joy on their beds.
6The high praises of God shall be in their mouths, And a two-edged sword in their hands,
7To execute vengeance on the nations, And punishment on the peoples,
8To bind their kings with chains, And their dignitaries with shackles of iron,
9To execute against them the judgment written. This is an honor for all His godly ones. Praise the LORD!
Psalms 150
1Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty expanse.
2Praise Him for His mighty deeds; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.
3Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre.
4Praise Him with tambourine and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flute.
5Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
6Everything that has breath shall praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!
