Psalms 112,113,114

Psalms 112

1Praise the LORD! (Hallelujah!) Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who fears the LORD [with awe-inspired reverence and worships Him with obedience], Who delights greatly in His commandments.

2His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed.

3Wealth and riches are in his house, And his righteousness endures forever.

4Light arises in the darkness for the upright; He is gracious and compassionate and righteous (upright—in right standing with God).

5It is well with the man who is gracious and lends; He conducts his affairs with justice.

6He will never be shaken; The righteous will be remembered forever.

7He will not fear bad news; His heart is steadfast, trusting [confidently relying on and believing] in the LORD.

8His heart is upheld, he will not fear While he looks [with satisfaction] on his adversaries.

9He has given freely to the poor; His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted in honor.

10The wicked will see it and be angered, He will gnash his teeth and melt away [in despair and death]; The desire of the wicked will perish and come to nothing.

Psalms 113

1Praise the LORD! ( Hallelujah!) Praise, O servants of the LORD, Praise the name of the LORD.

2Blessed be the name of the LORD From this time forth and forever.

3From the rising of the sun to its setting The name of the LORD is to be praised [with awe-inspired reverence].

4The LORD is high above all nations, And His glory above the heavens.

5Who is like the LORD our God, Who is enthroned on high,

6Who humbles Himself to regard The heavens and the earth?

7He raises the poor out of the dust And lifts the needy from the ash heap,

8That He may seat them with princes, With the princes of His people.

9He makes the barren woman live in the house As a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD! (Hallelujah!)

Psalms 114

1When Israel came out of Egypt, The house of Jacob from a people of strange language,

2Judah became His sanctuary, And Israel His dominion.

3The [Red] Sea looked and fled; The Jordan turned back.

4The mountains leaped like rams, The [little] hills, like lambs.

5What ails you, O sea, that you flee? O Jordan, that you turn back?

6O mountains, that you leap like rams, O [little] hills, like lambs?

7Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, At the presence of the God of Jacob (Israel),

8Who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a fountain of water.
