"a cogitation, an inward reasoning" (generally, evil surmising or supposition), is formed from en, "in," and thumos, "strong feeling, passion" (cp. thumoo, in the Middle Voice, "to be wroth, furious"); Eng., "fume" is akin; the root, thu--, signifies "to rush, rage."
