Forty

is used in circumstances in Scripture which indicate the number as suggesting probation, separation or judgment, e.g., Mat 4:2, Act 1:3, Heb 3:9, Heb 3:17. Note: Tessarakontaetes, "forty years" (etos, "a year"), is found in Act 7:23, Act 13:18.
