"to strike, knock," is used in the NT of "knocking" at a door, (a) literally, Luk 12:36, Act 12:13, Act 12:16; (b) figuratively, Mat 1:7-8, Luk 1:11-10 (of importunity in dealing with God); Luk 13:25, Rev 3:20.
