denotes "that which is mixed or kneaded" (phurao, "to mix"); hence, "a lump," either of dough, Rom 11:16 (cp. Num 15:21); 1Co 1:5-7, Gal 5:9 (see under LEAVEN); of potter's clay, Rom 9:21.
