Deuteronomy

The LORD will open for you his abundant storehouse, the sky, to give your land rain in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow.

Psalms

The wicked person borrows and does not repay, but the righteous one is gracious and giving.

Proverbs

One without sense enters an agreement and puts up security for his friend.

The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is a slave to the lender.

Don’t be one of those who enter agreements, who put up security for loans.

If you have nothing with which to pay, even your bed will be taken from under you.

Ecclesiastes

Better that you do not vow than that you vow and not fulfill it.

Matthew

Give to the one who asks you, and don’t turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

“No one can serve two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Romans

Therefore, you must submit, not only because of wrath but also because of your conscience.

And for this reason you pay taxes, since the authorities are God’s servants, continually attending to these tasks.

Pay your obligations to everyone: taxes to those you owe taxes, tolls to those you owe tolls, respect to those you owe respect, and honor to those you owe honor.

Do not owe anyone anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Look! The pay that you withheld from the workers who mowed your fields cries out, and the outcry of the harvesters has reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts.
