Psalms 107-111

Psalms 107

1Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, For His mercy is everlasting.

2The redeemed of the LORD shall say so, Those whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy

3And gathered from the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south.

4They wandered in the wilderness in a desert region; They did not find a way to an inhabited city.

5They were hungry and thirsty; Their souls felt weak within them.

6Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them from their distresses.

7He also had them walk on a straight way, To go to an inhabited city.

8They shall give thanks to the LORD for His mercy, And for His wonders to the sons of mankind!

9For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, And He has filled the hungry soul with what is good.

10There were those who lived in darkness and in the shadow of death, Prisoners in misery and chains,

11Because they had rebelled against the words of God And rejected the plan of the Most High.

12Therefore He humbled their heart with labor; They stumbled and there was no one to help.

13Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them from their distresses.

14He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death And broke their bands apart.

15They shall give thanks to the LORD for His mercy, And for His wonders to the sons of mankind!

16For He has shattered gates of bronze And cut off bars of iron.

17Fools, because of their rebellious way, And because of their guilty deeds, were afflicted.

18Their souls loathed all kinds of food, And they came close to the gates of death.

19Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them from their distresses.

20He sent His word and healed them, And saved them from their destruction.

21They shall give thanks to the LORD for His mercy, And for His wonders to the sons of mankind!

22They shall also offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, And tell of His works with joyful singing.

23Those who go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters;

24They have seen the works of the LORD, And His wonders in the deep.

25For He spoke and raised a stormy wind, Which lifted the waves of the sea.

26They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths; Their soul melted away in their misery.

27They reeled and staggered like a drunken person, And were at their wits’ end.

28Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He brought them out of their distresses.

29He caused the storm to be still, So that the waves of the sea were hushed.

30Then they were glad because they were quiet, So He guided them to their desired harbor.

31They shall give thanks to the LORD for His mercy, And for His wonders to the sons of mankind!

32They shall also exalt Him in the congregation of the people, And praise Him at the seat of the elders.

33He turns rivers into a wilderness, And springs of water into a thirsty ground;

34And a fruitful land into a salt waste, Because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

35He turns a wilderness into a pool of water, And a dry land into springs of water;

36And He has the hungry live there, So that they may establish an inhabited city,

37And sow fields and plant vineyards, And gather a fruitful harvest.

38He also blesses them and they multiply greatly, And He does not let their cattle decrease.

39When they become few and lowly Because of oppression, misery, and sorrow,

40He pours contempt upon noblemen And makes them wander in a pathless wasteland.

41But He sets the needy securely on high, away from affliction, And makes his families like a flock.

42The upright see it and are glad; But all injustice shuts its mouth.

43Who is wise? He is to pay attention to these things, And consider the mercy of the LORD.

Psalms 108

1My heart is steadfast, God; I will sing, I will sing praises also with my soul.

2Awake, harp and lyre; I will awaken the dawn!

3I will give thanks to You, LORD, among the peoples, And I will sing praises to You among the nations.

4For Your mercy is great above the heavens, And Your truth reaches to the skies.

5Be exalted above the heavens, God, And may Your glory be above all the earth.

6So that Your beloved may be rescued, Save with Your right hand, and answer me!

7God has spoken in His holiness: “I will triumph, I will divide up Shechem, And measure out the Valley of Succoth.

8Gilead is Mine, Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet of My head; Judah is My scepter.

9Moab is My washbowl; I will throw My sandal over Edom; I will shout aloud over Philistia.”

10Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?

11God, have You Yourself not rejected us? And will You not go forth with our armies, God?

12Give us help against the enemy, For deliverance by man is worthless.

13Through God we will do valiantly, And it is He who will trample down our enemies.

Psalms 109

1God of my praise, Do not be silent!

2For they have opened a wicked and deceitful mouth against me; They have spoken against me with a lying tongue.

3They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, And have fought against me without cause.

4In return for my love they act as my accusers; But I am in prayer.

5So they have repaid me evil for good, And hatred for my love.

6Appoint a wicked person over him, And may an accuser stand at his right hand.

7When he is judged, may he come out guilty, And may his prayer become sin.

8May his days be few; May another take his office.

9May his children be fatherless, And his wife a widow.

10May his children wander about and beg; And may they seek sustenance far from their ruined homes.

11May the creditor seize everything that he has, And may strangers plunder the product of his labor.

12May there be none to extend kindness to him, Nor any to be gracious to his fatherless children.

13May his descendants be eliminated; May their name be wiped out in a following generation.

14May the guilt of his fathers be remembered before the LORD, And do not let the sin of his mother be wiped out.

15May they be before the LORD continually, So that He may eliminate their memory from the earth;

16Because he did not remember to show mercy, But persecuted the afflicted and needy person, And the despondent in heart, to put them to death.

17He also loved cursing, so it came to him; And he did not delight in blessing, so it was far from him.

18But he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment, And it entered his body like water, And like oil into his bones.

19May it be to him as a garment with which he covers himself, And as a belt which he constantly wears around himself.

20May this be the reward of my accusers from the LORD, And of those who speak evil against my soul.

21But You, GOD, the Lord, deal kindly with me for the sake of Your name; Because Your mercy is good, rescue me;

22For I am afflicted and needy, And my heart is wounded within me.

23I am passing like a shadow when it lengthens; I am shaken off like the locust.

24My knees are weak from fasting, And my flesh has grown lean, without fatness.

25I also have become a disgrace to them; When they see me, they shake their head.

26Help me, LORD my God; Save me according to Your mercy.

27And may they know that this is Your hand; You, LORD, have done it.

28They will curse, but You bless; When they arise, they will be ashamed, But Your servant will be glad.

29May my accusers be clothed with dishonor, And may they cover themselves with their own shame as with a robe.

30With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to the LORD; And I will praise Him in the midst of many.

31For He stands at the right hand of the needy, To save him from those who judge his soul.

Psalms 110

1The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”

2The LORD will stretch out Your strong scepter from Zion, saying, “Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”

3Your people will volunteer freely on the day of Your power; In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, Your youth are to You as the dew.

4The LORD has sworn and will not change His mind, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”

5The Lord is at Your right hand; He will shatter kings in the day of His wrath.

6He will judge among the nations, He will fill them with corpses, He will shatter the chief men over a broad country.

7He will drink from the brook by the wayside; Therefore He will lift up His head.

Psalms 111

1Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart, In the company of the upright and in the assembly.

2Great are the works of the LORD; They are studied by all who delight in them.

3Splendid and majestic is His work, And His righteousness endures forever.

4He has caused His wonders to be remembered; The LORD is gracious and compassionate.

5He has given food to those who fear Him; He will remember His covenant forever.

6He has made known to His people the power of His works, In giving them the inheritance of the nations.

7The works of His hands are truth and justice; All His precepts are trustworthy.

8They are upheld forever and ever; They are performed in truth and uprightness.

9He has sent redemption to His people; He has ordained His covenant forever; Holy and awesome is His name.

10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; All those who follow His commandments have a good understanding; His praise endures forever.
