Matthew 20:17-19

17While going up to Jerusalem, Jesus took the twelve disciples aside privately and said to them on the way,

18“See, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death.

19They will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked, flogged, and crucified, and on the third day he will be raised.”

Mark 10:32-34

32They were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them. The disciples were astonished, but those who followed him were afraid. Taking the Twelve aside again, he began to tell them the things that would happen to him.

33“See, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death. Then they will hand him over to the Gentiles,

34and they will mock him, spit on him, flog him, and kill him, and he will rise after three days.”

Isaiah 53:1-7

1Who has believed what we have heard? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

2He grew up before him like a young plant and like a root out of dry ground. He didn’t have an impressive form or majesty that we should look at him, no appearance that we should desire him.

3He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was. He was like someone people turned away from; he was despised, and we didn’t value him.

4Yet he himself bore our sicknesses, and he carried our pains; but we in turn regarded him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted.

5But he was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds.

6We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the LORD has punished him for the iniquity of us all.

7He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth. Like a lamb led to the slaughter and like a sheep silent before her shearers, he did not open his mouth.
